Stress Demonstration Through Photoelasticity

One of the practical methods of stress analysis is through the use of photo elasticity; this method is performed by shining the light on polarized filters and through the specimen. Depending on the type of the light being used, e.g. Ultra-violet or monochromic, colored or black and white stress contour are produced on an analyzer plane with the help of which critical locations that have the maximum stress can be determined visually.
