Compressor is a machine that reduces the system volume by increasing the gas pressure and discharges the gas with pressure. As a result of this process, the temperature and pressure of the compressed gas increase. There are different kinds of compressors that are designed for industrial or domestic uses. Anyhow, the goal is increasing the pressure of air or a special gas for a particular usage. Reciprocating air compressors are used as useful machines for learing the theoretical principles of heat engine. In specific cases where there is a high pressure ratio, multi-stage compressors are used. It means that the process of compression is divided to some smaller compression stages.
